Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an internal martial arts form famous for its health benefits, many people practice just for the healing side, as the harmony and calmness promote balance of body and mind. We all need time to "switch off" and relax.Tai Chi does this as the practicioner goes through the movements or concentrates on the breathing techniques during the Chi Gong (breathing exercises). It is sometimes also refered to as 'moving meditation' because whilst performing the movement you are also aware of the breathing aspects and the movement at the same time.

One of the systems taught in our school is dao yin here is a link to documents and information on this amazing chi gong - http://dyysg.co.uk/docs.php

Classes are suitable for everybody of all ages, and are taught by Barry Phelan 20 times British Tai Chi Champion, European champion and now 2012 world champion who has been training in Tai Chi for 20 years.
Sessions start with a general warm up and stretch followed by breathing exercises called 'chi gong' which help to relax and calm your body and mind ready for the class.
Hand and foot drills to help you co-ordination, strength and balance. We follow this with the form work and push hands if the student wants to learn the self-defence part of Tai Chi
